The hypocrisy is on full display, with Republicans fuming over the discovery of classified documents at President Biden’s former office and residence. In contrast, they continue to ignore the criminal investigation into Trump’s theft of hundreds of documents from the White House, withholding them from the FBI for over a year and saying “they’re mine.” After discovering the documents, Biden’s lawyers subpoenaed the archives, voluntarily turning them over and cooperating without obstructing the investigation. The situation could not be more different when comparing the behavior and attitudes of Trump and Biden on the issue. The only similarity is that documents from both administrations were removed from the White House and ended up in unsecured locations. Both are unacceptable scenarios.Trump has tried to weaponize the judiciary, the federal judiciary, state legislatures and the Supreme Court during his reign of attack on democracy. Every crime he committed was connected to an attempt to secure protection for the corrupt from institutions sworn to uphold the Constitution. The Judiciary has consistently ruled against him. The biggest boost to Trump’s detractors was Attorney General William Barr’s announcement that the Mueller report cleared Trump of any criminal conduct. The investigation found him guilty of 10 counts of obstruction of justice. In his address to the American public, Barr dropped the information that the counts are criminal, but the DOJ adheres to a policy that prohibits indicting a sitting president.
It is hypocritical and ironic that Republicans are accusing Biden of operating at the DOJ, when Agri’s Merrick Garland quickly chose the Trump-appointed special counsel to investigate Biden, and Biden has not cooperated and engaged with Garland in Trump’s investigation, . Republicans would have no narrative if they didn’t rely on gaslighting.
It is clear that President Biden is cooperating with the investigation. He is not obstructing the court in demanding the return of the documents. He knows they belong to the government. Republicans are embarrassing themselves by defending Trump. They are demanding a raid on Biden’s residence when law enforcement is not required to raid a location that has been given full access. Trump’s residence was raided because he hid documents and refused to hand them over to the government.
Trump’s narcissistic, sociopathic modeling has produced chaotic replicants of himself such as Reps. George Santos, Marjorie Taylor Green, Paul Gosser, Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert and many others in the House and Senate. However, most of the mid-terms rejected Tetumpe’s surrogate hopes that MAGA’s work in the House would be tolerated by the majority of Americans of all parties.
